How am I helping?
Your race fees and donations go directly ROS1+ cancer research through The ROS1ders. They are the largest collection of ROS1+ patients and caregivers in the world and they are getting things done. Past race fees helped fund the Cancer Model Project where leftover tissue donations from ROS1der patient biopsies are used to study potential new treatment options. Last year, your participation helped fund their ROS1+ Cancer Innovation Award program -- seed grants for researchers starting new studies on ROS1+ cancers and treatments.
From their website: "ROS1+ cancer is rare, occurring in only 1%-2% of non-small cell lung cancer cases--this means fewer than 2000 cases are diagnosed in the USA each year. Many oncologists will never meet a patient who has ROS1+ lung cancer, and few clinics will see enough ROS1+ patients to be able to gather data on a sizeable cohort. But it is research that saves lives. It is for this reason that the ROS1ders created the ROS1+ Cancer Innovation Award."
Since Amie's diagnosis in 2017, one new drug for ROS1+ cancer has received FDA approval.
This is why your support matters! Thank you!
